When the rear axle thumps or claps under acceleration, a problem has arisen in the clutch on the rear axle differential, which becomes too aggressive and makes itself heard. rebuild
Grinding or singing noise in the car, depending on the speed,: this indicates worn bearings in the differential. Choose to overhaul the differential.
All bearings and seals will be replaced and the differential will be reset to factory tolerances. In fact, everything except the clutch is then completely fine again.
CLUTCH
Knocking/clapping: this indicates a dirty or worn clutch; choose to clean clutch or a new one.
Clean clutch:
Advantage: Can work well, economical. Disadvantage: no certainty about solving the problem.

The thumping is guaranteed.
Advantage: Most durable, clutch is now new again. Disadvantage: more expensive, but still 3x cheaper than a new differential from the dealer.
