Completely overhauledBMW differential with new locking clock installed. The standard differential is sensitive to problems with the bearings, this was immediately remedied by the rebuild with stronger bearings than original.
PG Torsen
This is a Toren limited slip differential. The operation consists of worm gears that ensure that when 1 wheel slips, the other wheel is also driven. When 1 wheel then slips 3 laps, the other wheel will be driven at least 1 lap. There is no blocking effect on throttle off. So it is a big improvement compared to no lock at all, but slightly less in terms of performance than a plate lock differential.
Performance: 3/5
Strength: 3/5
Durability: 4/5
Quaife Torsen
This is a Toren limited slip differential. The operation consists of worm gears that ensure that when 1 wheel slips, the other wheel is also driven. When 1 wheel then slips 3 laps, the other wheel will be driven at least 1 lap. There is no blocking effect on throttle off. It is therefore a significant improvement compared to no lock at all, but slightly less in terms of performance than a disc lock differential. The steel is of high quality.
Performance: 3/5
Strength: 4/5
Durability: 4/5
Gripper LSD
This is a classic disc limited slip differential made from high quality steel and has a high quality finish. The time limiter is available in various settings such as street use or circuit/competition use. The Gripper LSDl is very strong and has a lifetime warranty. The barrier plates do need an overhaul over time. With competition use this can be the case after two seasons, on public roads it can last for years. This strongly depends on the type of use.
Performance: 4/ 5
Strength: 5/5
Durability: 3/5 (due to the wear of the barrier plates over time)
OS Giken Superlock
The OS Giken superlock is a disc lock, as all BMW motorsport users prefer, but has major advantages over a traditional disc lock. For example, there is up to 100% locking percentage and virtually no wear due to the multitude of locking plates. With a normal disc lock differential, the locking effect weakens over time due to wear.
Normally 100% is not desirable, this has the disadvantage that the car is more difficult to steer because the wheels no longer want to turn independently. However, with an OS Giken this works differently because (unlike a normal disc lock) there are extra central springs in the diff that counteract the locking effect. This means that during quiet driving or parking there is little locking effect, but when accelerating this builds up to 100%.
This versatile system gives you the best setup for both road and track, no compromises needed.
Performance: 5/5
Strength: 4/5 (because the OS Giken is slightly smaller than the Gripper at this size)

Adjusting the ratio affects the RPM. A higher ratio means significantly better acceleration but you sacrifice some comfort (because the engine revs up).
Theoretical top speeds in 6th gear at 6600rpm:
3.46 = 269km/h (standard original ratio)
3.64 = 256km/h
3.73 = 249km/h
3.91 = 238km/h
4.10 = 227km/h
