- What kind of limited slip differential is this?
This is a plate differential, which is broadly comparable to the ZF limited slip differentials as supplied, for example, in the BMW M3, M4 GT4, Porsche 911 GT3 RS or Nissan GTR Nismo.
- Why is this differential more expensive than most other limited slip differentials?
This is a new limited slip differential, not a rebuilt one. It uses the best techniques and materials, the disadvantages of a traditional limited slip differential are gone. However, this high technology has its price.
- Can it be compared to a Quaife or other torsen?
Partly. This limited slip differential is also maintenance-free. However, much more is possible in terms of adjustment, the differential also locks with 1 wheel off the ground (unlike a Quaife) and also locks during braking/deceleration. In addition, locking is possible up to 100%, so more power can be transferred to the road surface. And there will be noticeably better stability in your car with an OS Giken where with a Quaife you can still be unpleasantly surprised. In addition, the superlock is great for drifting and a Quaife or other torques significantly less

- Why this limited slip differential?
Design can handle more power
Locking action up to 100%, but without the drawbacks normally associated with 100% locking action
No maintenance required, the plates hardly wear out. There are racing teams that have been running the diff for 10 years without any problems and have only changed the oil.
Adjustable acceleration/deceleration locking action
With the ideal adjustment and 100% lock, you can expect better lap times or more controllable drifts. The differential can also be tuned to be fine for driving on public roads. It will have the advantages of an open differential when driving slowly, and the grip of a racing limited slip differential when accelerating.
Central springs / negative preload (yellow box drawing)
The main difference lies in the central springs that pull the pressure pieces (which exert pressure on the lock plates) AGAINST each other. These springs in fact ensure that there is little locking action when driving calmly, parking or steering (braking). On acceleration, this spring force will still be overcome, and the differential will lock.
