General information about flywheels:
It is a common belief that a larger/heavier flywheel is used to give the engine more torque, and that torque will decrease with a lighter flywheel. This is not the case. Heavy flywheels are used purely for easy engagement of the clutch so that grandma can drive away without coming to a standstill, nothing more and nothing less. Once the car is rolling, a heavy flywheel becomes completely unnecessary. The drivetrain and the weight of the car already have so much momentum that a heavy flywheel does not add much to this. Extra weight, especially on the crankshaft, makes the car slower in terms of acceleration. So if you don't plan to drive like a grandma, a light flywheel is only an advantage.
Experience has shown that the engine response is much better and the car accelerates a lot faster!
